Hi I want to remove admin rights from teachers desktops, how will they be able to upgrade sims. We currently deploy sims with solus.

Thanks

You can do this now without making them admins. We have done this via group policies. You will need to set the 'Always install with elevated privileges' on the policy set for staff. This alone will not do it.

You will also need to add an entry in the security Setting for the paths to the SIMS setups.

So:

User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Installer

Always install with elevated privileges - Enabled

User Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Software Restrictions\Additional Rules\

New Path Rule

Path =

Security Level - Unrestricted

This should allow the user to run updates, they will need to click yes to accept, if they do click no then you will need to visit the machine with a local admin and re-run the application setup.

Hope this helps.
