Does anyone mind letting on to how much they are paying for renewal of teh MS license under the new full time staff process, if you can state cost and how many staff you have so I can get an idea. Thanks,

I am managed by the assistant head, it make decisions quicker as they come form the top to start with rather than having to go up the tree and wait forever. It would be very difficult for any curriculum based person to manage a Network manager, unless they are a very good manager and trust the netwrok team to do their job for the simple fact that every ICT teacher I have come across and not very technicial, and only understand what they teach, and like to play with new toys and techniology to make it look like they are keeping up with the latest trends. just my opinion though...

Have you tried path rules: GPO: User Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Softwrae Restriction Policies > Additional Rules Add a new path rule \\server2\users$ Disallowed We also add the profile path \\server2\profiles$ Disallowed. We also restrict removable media by drive letter, so we would also have a path rule for F:\, D:\ and any other drives that you feel necessary.

You can do this now without making them admins. We have done this via group policies. You will need to set the 'Always install with elevated privileges' on the policy set for staff. This alone will not do it. You will also need to add an entry in the security Setting for the paths to the SIMS setups. So: User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Installer Always install with elevated privileges - Enabled User Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Software Restrictions\Additional Rules\ New Path Rule Path = Security Level - Unrestricted This should allow the user to run updates, they will need to click yes to accept, if they do click no then you will need to visit the machine with a local admin and re-run the application setup.
