superdubious Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 We have a large user base of netbook users. They have no profile specified in their domain user accounts. They are using locally cached profiles on their netbooks to save their work. I am considering imposing mandatory profiles on these users. My concern is that the next time these users log onto the domain with their netbooks, that their locally cached profiles (and therefore their work), will be overwritten by the mandatory profile. Am I correct in expecting this to happen?
3s-gtech Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 The profile and the My Documents location are seperate, and are seperately defined in both Group Policy and Active Directory. The choice of mandatory or local profile should not affect their documents, but it may change any folders within your mandatory profile, eg Desktop, Start Menu etc.
