Network printer printing gobbledegook!!

Right, i do have another thread but i dont think my title actually pointed out that i needed help. Network Printing

 

I've had a couple of suggestions but wanted to put it out to a wider audience.

 

Basically i swapped 6 Epson C1100N's with 6 Kyocera C5300. Me not thinking it through at the time (you should know this by now!) used the same name and same IP (i like things a certain way OK!).

 

We're finding that we're getting some print outs that are gobbledegook but so far ive only been able to narrow it down to netbooks.

 

My gut feeling, and as others have suggested, is that ive caused a bit of confusion by not using new share names etc...so i'm wondering whether some of the clients are still trying to use epson drivers (?) and not pulled down new ones...

 

i've just changed the share names of the printers and have altered the VBs script (awaits the confused cries from the teachers tomorrow morning).

 

But what really made me scratch my head is that someone printed out a table and some text from some cells were missing...eh!?

I take it you have installed the right drivers. It sounds to me like the drivers are wrong or the netbooks are getting the wrong drivers from somewhere.

 

You could try a PCL or a PS driver to see what happens.

its printing fine for other people which is what confuses me more

Are other people printing exactly the same thing from the same program or something different?

Does printing from a different program or a different document work on the netbooks?

If the netbooks are networked wireless do they work if networked wired?

Can you also check that you have exactly the same version number of the driver on the netbooks as the one on the server.
