Wall mountable speakers

All well and good until you realise that it isn't just PCs that are plugged into speakers. We have DVD players, CD players, VCRs, iPods, video cameras etc... that all get plugged into classroom speaker systems. Having the volume control on the back only works if you use a PC as the only source of the sound.

 

Thats fair enough, if thats the requirement then a different solution is required - our media dept gets full multi input amps for exactly this reason. However most of our staff play stuff through a desktop pc. They all have dvd drives now, so cds/dvds arn't a problem. I think most of our vcrs are hooked up to mobile tvs but we don't tend to get asked about these. Different classrooms will have different needs.

 

I don't think using the line in on a pc is a good idea, the quality wont be consistent, and its probably going to be unreliable. A switcher or small mixer would work well. There are a number of amps available that take multiple inputs, including the vision module which has two on the back and a mini-jack on the front that switches over from input 1 when you plug something in.

Just thought i would let people know how easy the Vision speakers and amp were to put together and mount on the wall. It took a whole 40 mins to do rather than the the 2 hours it took to put the 2.1 systems up. The teachers are very pleased with them and think the sound quality is excellent.

bose 191 speakers are wall mount. Sound quality is distinctly average though.

That's the case for a large amount of Bose kit IMHO. You need to spend a lot of money to get anything Bose that sounds good now, its all cheap tat.
