sidewinder Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Considering the amount of errors this causes about machines believing they are the master browser and elections being forced etc, do I need this service running on any client computers? Ive made one of my DC's the master browser, and disabling the service on my own workstation doesnt seem to cause me any problems, but I dont want to rush ahead disabling it on everything if its going to cause problems
Geoff Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 The browser service is only required in peer to peer network environments or when using NT or Win9x based clients. Active directory networks do not require it to be running on clients for network name resolution and browsing to function.
