ok bit behind in doing coding for site sorry...

but as promised here is chat system for people to use http://www.russdev.com/edchat/

at moment not integrated into edugeek login system if i ever get time will try and do it but if someone wants to take that project on then they can..

also reason we stayed away from irc based chats as 99% of us would not be able to access it from work due to firewalls etc

there is a page on wiki for schedule chat ideas...

@russdev :

I tried to go to the site you made for chat and this is what I get :

Warning: main(config.inc.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/edchat/index.php on line 37

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'config.inc.php' (include_path='.:/php/includes:/usr/share/php') in /var/www/html/edchat/index.php on line 37

btw I am using opera ( latest version whatever version that is )

Use CGI:IRC then rename the .CGI script. :)

CGI:IRC works over a standard http connection. The connection to the IRC server is done by the Web server. There is no issue with firewalls or web proxies beyond any content filtering that might pick up the urls.
