Exchange 2010 Send Connectors

Hi All,

 

I have a SharePoint 2010 server and I am trying to enable incoming mail to various document libraries. I have configured the SharePoint settings and I am working on getting the Send Connectors working within Exchange 2010.

 

I already have an existing Send Connector to our Local Authority SMTP server, so we are able to send external e-mails. When I create a new Send Connector for use with my SharePoint site an internal connector it stops any Outgoing Mail until you disable the Send Connector using the Local Authority SMTP connector.

So is it Sharepoint that will actually be sending mail but using Exchange as a relay?

SharePoint will be receiving the e-mail Exchage 2010 will be relaying it to the SharePoint site (a document library)

Still haven't played with E2K10 so this might have changed a little, but you usually configure an umm.. scope (which domains you're sending out to) should use a given send connectors. If you just have one connector it would be "*" i.e. all of them, but you might add one for say "example.com" which points to a different MTA from the default. So have you configured something like this in the new connector?

The new Send Connector

Addresses Space = servername.domain name Cost = 50

Network = Using a Smart Host which is the FQDN of the SharePoint server
