The incredible shrinking website...

We have a very odd issue appearing with our school website and its use of a PDF file.

 

We have our term dates displayed on the site via a PDF file embedded in an iframe (I didn't do the design, so no comments about this please).

 

When you navigate to the term dates page in any browser other than Chrome, it displays fine. If you do it in the latest stable release of chrome, the site shrinks.

Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this? I am guessing it is due to Chrome's new ability to open PDF files natively, rather than using Acrobat.

I think the only way you'll get round that is not to use a PDF - unless you submit a bug report to the chrome dev group?

Just had a quick look over at the bug reports, and it appears it is a common issue and is now marked as fixed and therefore due to be fixed in the next beta release, so it'll be a small while until it is fixed in the stable release.

It's because it's in an iframe. Linking to the PDF from the main menu instead should make it work OK.

Is the size of the iframe set or does it just fit to page?

 

Try setting the height and width of the iframe (if its not already). Not sure if it will work but its worth a try....

Huzzah, the new release of Chrome has now fixed this bug.
