How Do you... Document Your Network

Hello Everyone,

 

How do you document your networks?

 

I'm looking at tones of word and txt files thinking there must be a better way.

Mine is a combination of SharePoint wiki for SOPs and a few Word documents printed out in a red folder with enough information to fix things if the network is so broken that the wiki is unavailable.

 

(Wiki didn't have to be in SharePoint of course, but I was already using SharePoint for other things).

We use excel for documenting switch ports allocation with a visual cell lay out of the switches.

Wiki, text files (on Dropbox) and Visio.

Sharepoint Knowledge Base and a smattering of files. The one that I always worry about is passwords... dont' really want to keep the sole copy on the network but at the same time physical security of the documentation is vital as well...
