[sims] Track when a Change of Address was made

Does any body know how you can track who has made a change of address in Sims?

 

Currently got an awkward case (with solicitor parent!!) where a change was made (i know it had been as i saw it being done and we double checked about 5 times due to the nature of the case) but Sims is now showing the parent living back at the old address?

 

Any Ideas?

There are very few logs of changes by users. The only one that works well is Dinner Money. Anything else would produce some huge log files.

 

I would have thought the fact you witnessed it would be enough.

This may have happened by accident if somebody did not know when to use the Edit Address routine or the Move House routine. Using the wrong one at the wrong time can result in other changes being made for anybody ever connected to the address that is being changed.

Sivadam's explanation is most likely, and yes it gets awkward if someone messes it up and the "move" is due to divorce / separation.

Sorry should have made myself clearer - rereading i made a mistake - its for a contact rather then a pupil.

I think to answer the original point, there is very little tracking/logging available in SIMS, certainly none for address changes.

Isn't there a history for addresses? at the least a date for when they 'moved' there would allow you to narrow down the date it reverted??

Then, though it's unlikely, try and track it down based on that date / time, and who was logged in at the time, sql server could have logs of logins.

plus there is some logging available in system manager but i only got it to run once with very very narrow filters, the only other person who i've heard of that gets it to work is @bossman.

Probably not any help, but worth a punt.

That's true Vik, but it could depend on the circumstances, ie if it was changes rather than through the 'moved house' procedure.

Basicly we Know it was changed but want to know who did it!!

 

I think they may have worked out who has done it anyway!

This is something that crops up quite a lot. Sadly there is no way to deal with it other than tighten the security and restrict access.

Hmm i was hoping SQL/sims had some sort of change tracking just like exchange does - unfortuantly this isnt the case!!

You could probably get SQL to record this directly, away from SIMS... but after the effort of that is it worth it?
