gwendes Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Ever wondered how best to deliver your important message to *insert deity*? How does prayer work? http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/aboutspiritualresearch/SpiritualPractice/prayer/images/Praying-with-sp-emotion.gif
LosOjos Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I'm actually lost for words. One of the dumbest things I've ever seen online.
LeightonJames Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 No no no, you're doing it wrong. like this: http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/aboutspiritualresearch/SpiritualPractice/prayer/images/Prayer-position.gif
CESIL Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Wow...I never realised there was science involved! I shall have to try prayer now and see if it can fix the hole in my roof or the shortfall in my mortgage endowment
bladedanny Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Wow...I never realised there was science involved! I shall have to try prayer now and see if it can fix the hole in my roof or the shortfall in my mortgage endowment It all depends on the intensity of the prayer vs the intensity of the destined event. Do you feel like the hole in your roof was destiny?
gwendes Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 I'm actually lost for words. One of the dumbest things I've ever seen online. Awesome innit? Bordering on parody!
gwendes Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 It all depends on the intensity of the prayer vs the intensity of the destined event. Do you feel like the hole in your roof was destiny? LOL! Might be better off praying for some cash for something worthy then spending it on the roof. Then, repent. Sorted.
Andrew_C Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) No. You're all wrong. The way to get the hole in the roof fixed is to steal some cash, or slates, then pray for forgiveness. Edited December 9, 2010 by Andrew_C 're
gwendes Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 No. You're all wrong. The way to get the hole in the roof fixed is to steal some cash, or slates, then pray for forgiveness. That's not magical enough for me... Don't you want to see if this stuff works? They've got diagrams so it's probably all true! http://www.spiritualresearchfoundation.org/aboutspiritualresearch/SpiritualPractice/prayer/images/Various-types-of-prayer-pos.gif
LosOjos Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I love that they've put percentages to all this as though it's some actual measurable force they've conducted tests on. If you choose to have faith in a higher being, that's up to you, but don't dare try to tell me it's science. 1

LosOjos Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Someone trying to start a new 'Scientology' thread? Certainly not me! A religion based on the writings of a Sci-Fi author who was alive in living memory and is on record as having said that the best way to make money in this world is to invent a religion; how on Earth can anybody possibly buy in to that carp?!

You joined after Mark and I created the longest thread (well, not sure now but it was at the time) on this site! http://www.edugeek.net/forums/behind-red-door/18360-scientology.html If you've got a week to kill it's quite a good read - please don't BUMP it by replying to anything though!
witch Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 If there is a God, and the jury is out on that, do we REALLY think that it would give a toss about how or where you were when you spoke to it? So...all the nuns and monks in closed orders who spend a lot of time praying for world peace and the like, they fail because their hands are not quite in the right position? I wondered why their prayers didn't seem to be answered
