burgemaster Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Does anyone please know where Win7 Stores the start menu? We have start menus for staff redirected from "SERVER\StaffStartMenus". 95% of the time this is working perfectly, but on three occassions now some staff have either: Completely incorrect old start menus, or when a new item is added to the start menu share it not appearing for them. They are getting an outdated start menu from somewhere.. I have managed to fix it by clearing there profiles, but where are these outdated start menus getting stored please? I guess in there ntuser.dat / profiles?????
pritchardavid Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs Sound like your not redirecting the startmenu and there getting a local copy
somabc Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 You can use the environment variable as well %appdata%\microsoft\windows\start menu\
mrbios Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Check their user profile hive, there's a registry setting in there you can hard code if you like so if for some reason it doesn't pickup the GP it'll pick it up from there. I think i remember reading that it's not really advised to do that (?) but personally, while i've not had any problems with GP redirect it's a backup incase it fails for any reason.
tommej Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Also try disabling the sync center Do this manually, control panel -> sync center -> manage offline files -> disable offline files. The GPO just seems to 'disable' the button.
