Hourly Rate

I am doing a show next week for a school i am doing sound and lighting for it but im not sure how much I really should be charging them, it should be from 2:30 untill about 7pm not sure weather I should charge an hourly rate or a fixed amount and how much i should charge. Any Ideas greatly appreciated

Do an hourly rate, at whatever you would normally charge. My case this is £25-£30 an hour.

 

This way they wont get you to do an all day event for the same price as a 2 hour event.

I'd second what Nephilim says, make it a sensible amount and charge hourly, that way they won't take the *%$£ with daft jobs and shouldn't keep you hanging around for ages waiting for things to happen, and if they do, oh well you're still earning. Flat rates invite abuse as far as I'm concerned... you'll just end up with a load of "Before you go...." and "Whilst you're here...." style issues.

Agreed with the above. Hourly rate that's easy enough to calculate.

 

Remember to charge enough that you get a decent return after keeping some for the tax man

Whilst that rate might be nice, they could get a "proper" theatre technician for less than that. School ICT isn't the only poorly paid profession!
