win xp saying no driver installed

We have setup a new server 2008 r2 server as our print server.

I have installed 64 bit drivers for all printers.

 

If i send test print from server directly it works fine.

How ever if i add a printer from ad from new server and try and print it sais it doesn't have any drivers available for that printer, and asks do i want to search for them.

All workstations are x86

 

Old server is also online, thats a 2003.

 

what am i doing wrong? I'm sure its something silly.

you need to install the x86 print drivers on the server and they need to be the same version number. On the sharing tab is an additional drivers (or similar) box you need to tick the xp x86 (or sometimes 2000 x86 seems to work better) and give it an appropriate driver

You will also need the ntprint.ini files for the print processor...

I did read somewhere that if you manage the printers from a 32 bit machine/server via the "printers and faxes" share, you dont need to find the NTPRINT.INF file, as you already have it avaliable to you.

 

I'll try to find the link.

I cannot see the "printers and faxes" share on a server 2008r2, but can see it on a 2008 server.

 

Does anyone know if it still exists on r2?
