Setting a custom start menu for windows 7 users

Good morning,

 

Wondered if anyone has any advice, on the following.

 

Running windows 7 with Server 2008, we have student and staff profiles. The student custom menu works when redirected but cant get a staff one to work.

 

Even if i point the staff to the student start menu is doesnt work, i think there is a policy setting that is stopping it running but after looking at them all i can see anything.

 

Wondered if anyone had a smiliar setup and if they could share their knowledge.

Bit tricky to answer without knowing your set up better.

For example I have a single OU called users which applies all the policies to. I then have a sub OU called teachers where I have a second GPO that I applys the different settings I want for teachers. Whilst I have a he same custom start menu for both staff and pupils it works ok.

 

I would try looking at the GPO redirecting the start menu. there's the analysis too you can run to see what settings are applying. Possibly even the security (file and share) on the locAtion you are using for your stArt menu.
