MP wants porn to be opt-in. Protecting children or self-censorship?

Were I cynical person, I'd see this as a backdoor attempt to enforce self-censorship. "Wait, I have to ask my ISP to enable adult content to look at random pornsite . com*?"

 

Of course, you could do some basic parenting and attend a course at your local school (we offer them, so do others) if you want a hand working out how to keep your kids safe on the internet. There are many guides ( Protecting your family on Mobiles and the Internet | Vodafone Parents' Guide, for example) out there too.

 

And here was I thinking the LibTories wanted to empower parents, not do their jobs for them.

 

*Though I don't know for sure, I'm assuming this domain does exist and points somewhere nsfw.

Absolutely ridiculous. They'll be banning Google and blogging next in case people find anything "from outside". Internet censorship is down to the individual (in a home environment I mean), they shouldn't have to ask their ISP to unblock sites for them. Like they don't know enough about our internet usage already!
