Not overly keen, I myself am an atheist but I don't go out of my way to mock religion however I think I should have that right given some of the stuff religion has been responsible for both in the past, present and almost certainly future!

 

This means if a particular group, lets take a sect of the Jedi religion for an example, decides they are going to force their female members to dress up like princess leia (Jabba's slave) then I would like to be able to mock them for being a bunch of nutters with a warped view of women without being accused of breaching their 'human rights' by defaming their religion.

Kind of breaks the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, especially Article 19.

It's a contradiction anyway, as most religions state somewhere in their scripture that to defend the faith you must ridicule the non-believers (actually a lot say kill the non-believers but I thought I'd be diplomatic).

 

The only people I see this ever being used against is atheists; as we have no faith, we can't use it as an excuse to be vile to others.

Religions aren't humans, they're beliefs held by humans, so I don't really see why the human rights council has any business ruling on the matter.

Doesn't surprise me - so much fighting over religion in the East, it seems that the UN may be opening a can of worms here, certain countries could use it to their advantage to cite "religion-ism" against those who choose to follow a different faith to that which the state is associated with.

 

Having said that, do the UN really hold that much power? I wonder how close to the truth the scene in Team America is, "don't do that, or the UN will give you a telling off!"
