fafster Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Just tested the demo. When trying to book rooms, the javascript box pops up for a moment and tries to load, but then disappears again. Happens under both admin and user, and still occurs after I created a brand new room. I've tried a few weeks in advance, too, but no joy.

Other people haven't reported this so I wonder whether it could be an issue with your browser?

zag Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) I get this when trying to save the settings page Is there somewhere to set the week1_name? Its the same if I select 1 week or 2 week timetable, no input box for week name. EDIT: OK fixed it, I had to configure the year and holiday dates first. You might want to change the order of the instructions to reflect this. Edited November 24, 2010 by zag

Yeah, little known bug already fixed for next release. In 0.3 it tries to save the custom week names for 2 week timetables, but it can't do this when it is set as a 1 week timetable thus causing the error. A fix for now is to go to settings and change to 2 week, save, then change back to 1 week and save. Like I say though, there is a fix for this in the next release.
bladedanny Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Howdy do, Another snag I've hit with v3.0 is when setting holiday dates that end midweek, say on a monday, the whole week is marked down as a holiday. For example, after xmas we come back on the 3rd which is a Monday, I've put this in and the rest of the week is also marked down as holiday. I also had a bit of trouble upgrading, but as I'm not using it live yet I did a clean install which worked fine. Apart from that all is good.

Thanks - yeah, the holiday bit is only designed for full weeks off at the moment, and is only to prevent the two week timetable from messing up. I hadn't designed it for users to input individual days or parts of weeks as didn't think this was necessary - something else to look into Also, for v0.3 the database changed quite a lot, and I found you have to do a clean install. I need to look into a means of upgrading from one version to the next, but this is probably something for a little later down the line.
Hightower Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 I get the same thing What browser? Is it just the demo, or is it the same if you install 0.3 on your own servers? Just tried IE and FF and both work fine for me on the demo. Hate strange issues like this

Thanks, the clean install isn't much of an issue as I just used the csv import to add my items, and as it's still beta I guess it's to be expected. The improvement to the holiday system would be good for training days and bank holidays etc. too. Thanks, Dan PS I think come payday cancer research uk might be a few pounds up.
Hightower Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 PS I think come payday cancer research uk might be a few pounds up. Thanks for that mate. Let me know when the deed is done and you'll get a nice little supporter item in the software, as a way of thanks

There's an update for it though, so I'll restart the browser to complete the install and try again. This is on the demo site.
zag Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) Ok had a nice play round with this now and some comments. First of all great work, the 2 week timetable is working pefectly so far! I love the way you've implimented it. - I get another "cannot be null" error when adding a catagory. I had to go into the database and set "displayed" = "1" by default - Some of the input boxes in the modal box are not in order. It just nice to tab between them in order using the keyboard - If the catagory text goes onto 2 lines then the pictures are out of alinement - Using internet explorer 8 the links to the menu items have an "_" underscore between them Feature requests - Can the holidays have a background colour change as well? A nice pale red to make it obvious? - As already mentioned it would be great to stop people booking a certain number of weeks in advance - As mentioned it would be cool to see a report of who books the most rooms - An image resizer for php so you dont have to resize them yourself Edited November 24, 2010 by zag 1
Hightower Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 - If the catagory text goes onto 2 lines then the pictures are out of alinement The only way I can think to achieve this is to display the text below the image, or use a table to layout the items in the grid as opposed to using div's
zag Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Any news on the next version? I might role this out soon as testing has gone well. It would be great to have coloured background for holidays just to make it totally obvious to staff!

It's a bit mental at home at the minute what with all the Christmas shopping etc. I plan to do some major work on it over the two weeks I'm off and will hopefully have a nice new version with all your latest requests come the new year.
steele_uk Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Like the look of this booking system. I have got the WAMP setup on a server, but my knowledge of php is poor. I have bookit available as a project and have gone to the first page and changed the admin password. My next step is to go to settings, but when i try, i get this error; Fatal Error: Maximum execution time of 60 seconds exceeded in C:\wamp\www\bookit\system\codeigniter\common.php on line 383 Any ideas?
bizzy Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Tried the system for the 1st time today. Very usable and not intimidating for the technophobes. I second the proposals for repeat block booking ( for admins only ? ) and the ability to apply a limit on how far into the future booking can be done. Other than these I would not change or add anything. Keep it simple to use. Well done to the developer.
zag Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I saw you were working on this again. Here's my request list. - Dates to show in the day name title. So instead of "Friday" it says "Friday 3rd" - Colored backgrounds for holidays so its obvious - Fix bug with new firefox beta's when entering new booking box input disappears. Other than that its working great.

jdoyle Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Nice bit of development you're doing there. I currently use the booking tool from Devizes school. Whilst it works great it's a bit intensive on time at start of year as it doesn't do bulk uploads. Another problem I have is block bookings for Year 11 should end at a different date from the rest of the school and also they have an exam period where they are on study leave so block bookings should leap the date range for the exams. Year 10 go to Work Experience so block bookings for this year needs to omit some weeks. Very painful to manage at the moment. As Admin, I'm the only one able to do block bookings. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I didn't sign up to be a data entry clerk nor a room administrator. The AV tech would like to use the booking tool for resources such as video cameras etc. Its good for making bookings in advance but doesn't track who a resource is currently booked out to (if that makes sense) so requires a separate sign in/out sheet.
goodhead Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 seems to have a few issues in ie8. doesn't always log off properly.
zag Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Yeh any chance for an update? I can't book anything with Firefox 4
