home access website blocked on macs

We are using the HomeAccessPlus+ package by nickbro for home access by students.

One parent has emailed me saying that they use a Mac and have to completely disable website filtering before they can even get anywhere near our site.

having no access to a Mac outside of school (and school filtering etc) i can't test what they mean (and also having no clue about apple filtering).

Would someone be able to test this site on a mac with internet filtering enabled and let me know what errors they get and if they know of ways around it please?

the URL is: https://easylink.derbyhigh.derby.sch.uk/homelink.htm

Thanks!

Hi

No errors here as far as I can see. If you click the "Click Here to login to HomeLink" you hit SSL Port 443 which requests a valid user name and password.

Perhaps their's something else going on they're not telling you about or may not even be aware of? I've seen it before where occasionally overly paranoid parents may 'fiddle' with the Content Filter or Firewall in whatever they're using at their Network's edge without any real notion of what they're doing. I would not rule out the built-in OSX Firewall either. There may even be installed 3rd-Party Applications or Utilitys - such as Little Snitch for example - thrown into the mix? Don't rule out Parental Controls either.

Unless you're prepared to go to the site or their's more information forthcoming it's going to be difficult to tell.

Thanks for the info.

The parent runs his own IT business so I trust he knows what he is talking about and tweaking, but I do know what you mean, one harmless setting that could have a knock on effect, etc.

I'll dig deeper.

Thanks
