Hi there, im new to installing Server, We are an RM school and have always been. But now i have a nice shiny new sever and want to setup a new domain, but with a trust realationship with my RM CC4 server 2003 domain. so username and passwords share across both domains. The server has just has server 2008 installed. thats were i am.

My reasons, are our County, ISP is demanding that all machines are part of the domain in order to get core services, ie internet. and all our staff laptops are not currently as i find the rm overlay slows everything down and doesnt give enought control. so my plan was to join them to a new domain and use group poilcies. As i've spoke to RM and they told me they only way i could join them to the current domain was Use "Smart Client" which installs all the RM core parts. also cost about £60-80 per machine. which we just dont have. We have a school agreement so the Cals liences are not a problem...

Then new server doesnt need to be a DHCP server, as there is one on the RM CC4 Domain..

any help would be great....

any website links, anything at all.

thanks

nick
