What changes to scripts might be needed in a Windows 7 environment?

We currently have a Windows Server 2008 (Standard) with XP Pro Client set up.

 

Replacement PC's with Windows 7 Pro OS are starting to be added to the network.

 

What Windows 7 specific changes are likely to be needed to script ans Logon.bat files to keep things running smoothly?

Well we need to know what in your bat/script files mate

 

It a bit hard to tell you this way

 

 

One off hand is that the printers batch file dont work with any non admins, you need to use group policy for that

Thanks P-Dave - Umh problem for me straight away then as our Printers are run from a batch file. Not at that school till Thursday so when I get there I'll post up the file. In the meantime anythin I could do to prep myself for enabling in Group Policy in the now mixed XP and 7 environment?

Profiles on XP won't work on W7 and vice versa, they are v2 profiles.

 

I'd recommend you post a lot more information about the set up otherwise I fear you are going to walk into trouble.

all you do to deploy the printers is use the print management console (windows server 2003 r2 or later) to add the printer to the GPO. remember to add pushprinterconnections.exe to the scripts part of the gpo or the xp clients won't pick up the printers.

The first thing I would do is reimplement the bat file in vbs as that is far more likely to work correctly, there is a way to make printers still map sucessfully as long as the drivers are up to it - http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-vista/22950-solution-mapping-printers-logon-scripts-vista-7-without-uac-interupting.html

 

I would avoid kixart scripts if you are using them as well because they can cause their own little issues as well.
