display issues in Kartouche

Was trying to sort an issue with out netbooks and Kartouche not opening. It came up with an error blaming drivers or what not, but when i looked closer it was down to it not being able to handle the resolution, it also wasnt able to change to a compatible resolution.

 

Anyhoo, i changed an option in an ini and it was running fine on the netbooks....and then i went to run it on the desktops, now getting the netbook problem in there. So i update DirectX and drivers which didnt help. I then noticed that i can run it fine on my machine, which obviously hasnt got the same network restrictions.

 

So somewhere along the line i seem to have some restriction on resolutions, does that sound right? If so, where would it be?

Not sure if it is any help at all but had a similiar issue a few years back with kartouche when working at a school , errors relating to windows drivers or files or w/e

 

I did the following :

 

Downloaded the windows installer cleanup utility ( Windows Installer CleanUp Utility - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )

 

Downloaded CCleaner ( Piriform - Download CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy - Millions of users worldwide! )

 

Used windows installer cleanup util to remove quicktime, deleted the quicktime directory out of c:\program files

 

Used ccleaner registry cleaner repeatdly until it did not find anything

 

Remove flash, shockwave and java

 

Downloaded latest version of quicktime, installed this

 

Downloaded latest version of flash, shockwave - installed this

 

Downloaded latest version of Java - installed this

 

Updated graphics card drivers and direct X - Reboot when required

 

Re launch kartouche

 

I had to do the above as either local or domain admin btw

I had some issues with Kar2ouche and the best solution on the larger screen desktops was to change the ini and disable full screen mode...this was suggested by Kar2ouche support and does seem to have resolved the issues...

I have tried the suggestions on the Kartouche site but to no avail.

 

 

Still think the clue is that i can run it on my machine that has no restrictions as the program is obviously able to change the resolution as it seems fit, so whats stopping it on the fully networked machines?!

Have a look at the colour settings, may seem a daft suggestion but had that recently on some animation software, would only work on one PC untill I realised that the colour was set to 16bit instead of 32 bit!

At that point in time yes and by myself for two computer suites and it worked for me - never knew about the ini file at that point in time but it did the trick.

 

If you are going to try that method best try it on one and see if it helps / works as obviously if it does not make any difference then pointless doing all that.

Netbooks often need a different interface configuration from laptops/desktops. If it's a network installation with people accessing Kar2ouche through a shortcut then they will (probably) all be using the configuration file. If you have a few netbooks then one solution is to locally install. That way they use the configuration best for them.

 

The interface config file is in kar2ouche\content modules\default\interface\interface.ini. Change

interface.dat=1

smallface.dat=1

 

to

 

interface.dat=0

smallface.dat=1

 

on the netbooks. If you have problems contact us through the support address on the web site.
