dalsoth Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I have installed MDT again fresh and imported an XP SP3 image without any modifications into MDT and then just edited the sysprep.inf file from the tab in the Task sequence i set up to use to install it. The regional bits in the sysprep.inf are below: [RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=1 Language=00000809 SystemLocale=00000809 UserLocale=00000809 InputLocale=0809:00000809 Depite this, when i install XP it comes up with US keyboard, language, and regional etc.. as though it just ignores the sysprep. I know it does not ignore it entirely as it picks up my CD key and username and organisation name perfectly. I know i can capture an image of XP with the regional settings changed but i want to roll out a clean image and apply changes and join domain without using an altered image. Any suggestions? I have tried loads of things in customsettings and bootstrap and messed with the unattended file in the task sequence bit too without any luck. Its really annoying when i see the " and @ wrong as i would like to get to the bottom of this. Has anyone deployed a non-captured xp using mdt and had it pick up the right UK settings everywhere? Care to share your unattend, sysprep, customsettings and bootstrap so i can see what i am doing wrong? Cheers!!

dalsoth Posted October 30, 2010 Author Posted October 30, 2010 Thanks, I have tried this which has given me UK keyboard and language but the location dropdown in the language and regional settings still has US set. If there is a way to do this without having to add these cmdlines bits i would prefer it. I searched high and low online but just found others with similar probs.
leezallen Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Hi, when I originally wrote the article recommended by Dalsoth above I spent ages trying to do this and the only way I could do it was to use the cmdlines method with a completely unattended install. It drove me completely mad! @Dalsoth, it should work fine assuming that the build process does not stop to ask you for the regional settings... If you would like the unattended.txt files and other batch files I use then let me know!

dalsoth Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 Thanks for the replies and the settings. @Arthur, I was unsure about whether the settings you posted in the sysprep.inf and unattend.txt were in both files or just one or what... They happily sit in sysprep.inf but my unattend.txt looks like the bits below and I was unsure whether i mess with it or not so i tried it with only changing the sysprep file. [RegionalSettings] ; IF this section is used the Winnt32.exe /copysource:lang setting must be specified ; InputLocale_DefaultUser= ; Specifies the Inputlocal and keyboard setting for default user ; UserLocale_DefaultUser= ; Locale ID for default User ; InputLocale ; Locale\Keyboard combinations to be installed ; Language= ; Lanugage locale to be installed ; LanguageGroup=1 ; Language Group to be installed ; SystemLocale= ; System Locale to be specified ; UserLocale= ; User Locale setting I tried them without altering anything in the unattend.txt and again everything except the "location" is set to the UK. The location is still set to US. Another thing i have noticed is that the sysprep folder remains on the root of C: and the sysprep file is in there on its own. Is this normal? Shouldn't this folder get deleted? Otherwise the CD key is still visible in it to anyone who manages to get to the C: drive. Any reasons for this? @Leezallen my build was a litetouch install completely unattended but when i checked the input location bit in regional that was set to US still although all other bits were UK. If you have some working settings I am sure others would appreciate them on here.

I have these settings in both. I think I'll double-check when I'm back at school and see if the ones there are any different though.
