HP P3005 Laser Printer - Reset

I have 2 HP LJ P3005 printers sitting on my desk that I am reluctant to throw out as they are too good for the bin but they are about to go out the window if I can't resolve it.

 

They both have similar problems but I think I need to factory reset them, am currently scrolling through the Service Manual - HP LaserJet P3005 Service Manual

 

Does anyone know the service code or this this top secret? Or does anyone know how to do it,

 

1 of the printers loads but doesnt print (used to take 3 minutes from print request to actually printint)

the other displays nothing but seems to load and rollers run etc.

Ok, both print fine when instructed using options on the printer, just anoying that they dont work normally...

No there ins'nt a reset as such for HPlaserjets but you can reload the firmware which has the same result.

For this you will need a handy PC and a USB lead.

There are instructions on the HP drivers page on how to do it but if it proves difficult I have a set of instruction which have worked for me. BTW the firmware files are under other OS link

IIRC Holding down the Green Tick whilst powering on will offer the option of a reset... (normally does on HP Printers)

Lifted from one of the HP support forums.

 

1-switch off the printer

2-switch on the printer when the memory count shows 000 then press and hold the tick button still you see select language displayed

3-then release the finger and use the up/down arrow key till you get cold reset select cold reset and let the printer perform it's task

Cheers guys (and gals) tried the cold boot option, no luck. Will try the firmware when I get the motivation.

 

One printer freezes so you seem to have 5 minutes to play with it then goes into frozen mode.

The other still displays nothing, but both function fine, ie print fine either using the "special" button or via the on screen display option.

The "freeze" one could be the formatter board - I've recently had one die on me (works for a while, then freezes, powering off and on gets it to work for a while).

 

I bought a used printer with a working formatter, and swapped the parts over, and it's working fine. I haven't tried to 'bake' the old formatter yet, but I do intend to try it.
