Odd ping problem

Why could it be that on my system, if I ping any nic on the network, it replies no problem, but if I ping with a buffer size specified (any buffer size), the request times out.

 

I am very confused!

Possibly to network issue i.e. cant handle larger packet. Does it happen with just your system or does it happen when you ping from other systems too?

Are you sure you're not setting the frame size too big? A standard ping is 32bytes, and you should be able to increase it to at least 1400 without any issues - ping x.x.x.x -l 1400
