Raising domain level to 2008 R2 with Exchange 2007 on a 2003 R2 box

I am wanting to upgrade my domain and forest function level over the half term so that windows 7 can be supported with the new group policies etc. My only concern is that we have an exchange 2007 SP3 box running 2003 R2, all patched up etc and was wondering if i upgraded the forest and domina function level, would this have any effect on my exchange box?

 

Ive got a test domain but exchange needs the internet to access some of the updates to install and this test domain aint on connected to the net.

It should be fine. From my understanding the forest function level is only relivent to Domain Controllers
