My experience of Google Image search vs Bing Image search is that Bing Image search is safer from a 'naughty pics' pov.

we have google images blocked aswell as bing by our LEA only thing they can get on is picsearch or similar

I hadn't thought of the whole "naughty" pics results from the various search engines. In higher education its really a matter of treating people as responsible adults and holding them accountable when they are caught not living up to their end of that agreement.

We didn't see too many malware calls while on XP, but they are almost completely nonexistent since migrating to Windows 7. Still, I always try to minimize the potential contact the users may have with malware or phishing sites and it seems like Bing is the way to go.

Also, Microsoft seems to be reaching out to educators in a way I never saw from Google or any other search engine.

sigh Bing is not safer than Google

Barracuda's malware percentages line up almost exactly with these market share numbers, which suggests that this might be the dominant factor.

In June 2010, Google accounted for 62.6 percent of US-based searches, Yahoo 18.9, and Microsoft's Bing 12.7.

According to the study Google accounted for 69 percent of all malware found, with Yahoo at 18 percent, Bing (which supplies Yahoo search) at 12 percent.

So they all have the same amount of malware!
