Something for me to do..

Im not working just now (visa crap) and am a bit bored of just going to the beach every day. Well not really, but its not very mentally stimulating.. Ive booked into a SCUBA diving course for a couple of days, giong to go get some surf lessons and stuff so that should pass some time, but I think it would probably be prudent to use this time to learn something new..

 

Cant really afford to do a full on MS course or anything, but is there any decent webpages, pdfs, or anything that will keep my mind learning that I could be reading?

Hmm.. I learnt COMAL at school, and ADA at uni, but I really didnt enjoy it.. I dont think I have the correct type of brian for stuff like that.

 

Although I would love to learn perl I guess. Ill go dig up that other thread about what language to learn Im sure someone started recently and see if theres any perl related links in there..

 

PS. My time off is only going to be about 6 weeks, so not sure if thats enough time to really get into a language?

Six weeks is plenty of time to learn a new language, particularly if it's more scripting than software dev. If you haven't before pay a visit to the Scripting guys at Microsoft Technet and look into Powershell. The Powershell games make a great little challenge to give an aim and learn at the same time.
