Hi - we are a split site school and have a print server on each site - printers are all listed into the directory, and some users when adding a printer are picking the wrong site, is there any way to restrict a printer by site in AD or by IP Range

Why not use group policy for deploying printers and dely being able to add printer, again through group policy

we use a script to assign a printer (so there should be little need to add others) but we leave the option there so that if a printer runs out of toner a user can continue printing elsewhere whilst we deal with it.

 

If there is no way to prevent these mistakes we may have to follow your advice, as our sites are almost 10 miles apart people can't easily fetch mistakes
