Like alot of schools, we dont see why we should pay for filtering if you can get it for nowt.

(Our LEA's) filtering aint good hence the below solution

We run a SQUID/Dansguardian box on CentOS using NTLM to filter the kids internet. (NTLM gives transparent logon but with full username tracking)

(Hosted on VM with 1gig ram copes with 300users at once quite happily)

This works fine for blocking keywords and actual sites.

We have had to however create some custom DG plugins to block cgi/php proxies (saves having to find all the addresses, it just blocks the code) but we do have to update this manually when a new php script comes out (the code proxy sites use)

Our BLUD lists are from a uni in america and is only £50 a year but obviously them and us cant find everything.

My question is does anyone have an auto update method for proxy scripts? (not site addresses, actual proxy scripts)
