leco Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 So as not to divert another thread Exchange 2010. Or not?: I am looking at live@edu to run in conjunction with an established (ish) Exchange installation. Is this possible and what are the issues? Has anybody already done this?
dirtydog Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 we're in the middle of testing now. Wont it take over your Exchange install or are planning to still host some mailboxes locally?
PiqueABoo Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Is this possible Probably, it depends what you have and want. Look at 'shared address space' in this Live@Edu Implementation Guide (v2) 1
leco Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Thanks for that it may shed some light, though the project may have been taken out of my hands now. Edited September 29, 2010 by leco input missing words!
timbo343 Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Leco: How far down the line are you with thinking about going to live@edu? I am just preparing myself with some information as i can see, i too am going to get asked about having email for kids on our domain, but i dont want to look after lots of mailboxes on our exchange server, esp when we are talking nearly 850 so i too was thinking about live@edu for students.
RabbieBurns Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 we run exchange for staff and live@edu for students. Students never had an exchange account to begin with, so no migration needed. Feel free to hit me up for questions.
leco Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 The Local Authority seem keen to get every school using Live@edu. Our pupils, whilst having an email client in school, never actually use them. The staff use Outlook client in school and something else outside of school. That situation may change as the new OWA service kicks in from Exchange 2010. I am now on enforced leave from school, as a team from the Local Authority are completing the upgrade/development project that I've been working on all summer. So it may all have been done by the time I'm allowed back into school.
