Free HD Cloning Software

I use Drive Clone for a number of our machine, but it requires at least 512 ram to put on the machine or to boot from a Drive Clone cd. This is a problem with many of our older machines that aren't out of service yet.

 

I'm looking for a boot to cd that can copy the drive to a shared drive across the network that is 'easy to use'. All of my machines are XP at the moment. I've seen several online, but would rather hear about success stories than drop hours testing random software for functionaility.

Recently used Clonezilla Live in an emergency and it was really good.

 

Allows you to upload/apply images to/from a network share and is (reportedly) light on resources so should work on low RAM machines. Think the lowest I used it on was 512MB.

 

Very easy to get up and running so worth a shot.

Depending on the amount of machines you have you could setup a fog server - its really good and actually is better then ghost/clonezilla with the added features it provides

Fog is an open source imaging system. It uses pxe linux and udpcast to deliver images. Decent web interface to tie it all together. I set it up once to play with it ,but never used it production. It also has a mobile web interface that worked pretty well.

I had a problem with a corrupt recovery partition on one machine the other day.

 

Used EaseUs Disk Copy to copy from another machine in the same batch without issue. EASEUS Disk Copy: Free Disk Copy, Disk Clone, Partition Copy Software. Sector by Sector for hard drive backup freeware.

Yep FOG is execellent and I used it before we got SCCM in, though clonezilla runs as a server, just suggested Clonezilla Lite as the OP asked for a CD driven solution.
