Users don't get IE homepage until closing browser and starting again?

Hi All,

I am using a GPO to force our users IE homepage to be our Moodle site. This was done ages ago but I have only just really noticed that "most" of the time their browser goes to something like go.microsoft.com. If they then shut down the browser and then open it again it goes to the correct home page?

 

This doesn't happen to us admins??

 

Only thing different I can see about other users is that they have a mandatory profile while us admins do not. Not sure if that is relevant at all?

 

Has anyone else seen this?

Yup, it's in the mandatory profile. Absolute swine of a thing, I trawled the registry for it, but it's not in there either. It's to do with the homepage in the default profile. I've turned off mandatory profiles at the moment due to some issues with the Windows 7 .v2 mandatory profile, so they pick up the default profile on logon - this sends them to go.hp.blah blah as they're HPs. Will be sorted with a rebuild of my .v2. Doesn't happen on my XP machines though.

Yeah I have noticed this as well, but not noticed it lately tho.

 

Perhaps I should really keep my eyes open when I walk around instead of thinking lol

I know someone who doesn't use mandatory profiles on XP, they use the local profiles. But then again all his PCs are bought at the same time lol
