I currently have a change request (1009-772882) open after experiencing the horde of bounces caused by a combination of parental handwriting, smudgy biros and limited input validation.

 

Removing their ability to enter "banana@@!kkds../com" would be more efficient than the current model which allows them to do so, results in a bounce which eventually gets investigated and then at some point the address is corrected.

I also have a follow-up request here: 1109-963185 which would make email addresses checkable via database diagnostics (in the same way that names are checked for trailing spaces) which may not require as much work to implement.
