redirected folders and access denied

Hi guys, sorry about the forthcoming long post.

 

We have a few users here using Win7. Over the summer we jumped from a 2003 domain to a 2008R2 domain enviroment, and took the opotunity to redirect staff desktops to their network area as well as the My Documents folder (The My Docs folder was redirected before but never quite worked correctly).

 

We are having issues (typically happens in the morning) when staff come to access their network drive again that they are getting access denied to it, which in turn causes their desktop and My docs to loose connection. They have offline files active so they can work at home (found this is the only way that office 2010 will work from home as well, otherwise it complains that it cant fine normal.dotm and then refuses to open anything saved elsewhere). Our work around at the moment is for staff to completely restart their laptops and to try again, this works, most of the time.

 

What would be causing this to happen and what can be done to resolve this issue?

 

The network areas are mapped to the S drive, so staff see S:\.... when the actual location path is domain.internal\network\staffarea$\username, we are using DFS for the shares, have turned off exclusive rights for the redirected folders.

Try checking to see if they have ownership of the folder. Some of ours were set to administrators but it worked as soon as we changed it.

ive found if you have say my docs redirected to say "\\server\users$\staff\anotherteacher" as well as modify access at the anotherteacher level they need read access to the users$ and staff folders pr redirection fails
