No, wife hasn't dropped a new one, number 1 son who finished uni this year has just got his first proper job :D. Nice proper graduate job as well, we're all chuffed to bits.:bowl:

Congratulations - not an easy task in this climate. Many of my friends children who have graduated have gone for further training.

What does he do?

Next year my No. 1 son graduates - I hope I will be posting the same thing :)

He will be working for a company researching and analysing data on employee welfare etc. He studied Psychology at uni and this is an area very close to what he did his final dissertation in, so he's really chuffed he got it. I think on final count, he had applied for getting on for 200 jobs, 3 he got through to telephone interviews/online testing and this was the first one he'd got through to final interview on. You're right Witch, it really is a tough environment for graduates at the moment, well anyone unemployed really and it can be soul destroying to say the least.

Just a little tip, a lot of the graduate trainee schemes are starting now for next year, so make sure your no 1 son gets along to his uni careers service soonish, as if he's anything like mine he will have completely missed the boat on them by the time he even considers thinking about them ;-)

Thanks - but my son is studying Engineerin Geology and Geotechnics and so this is the field that he wants to go into - not often covered by graduate schemes. But if he doesnt find anything I will definitely encourage him to apply early for the following year!

That sounds really interesting, is he looking at going into post-grad education afterwards?
