[Exchange 2010] Mailbox database issue/quandry

New Exchange Server is showing old database which can no longer be mounted. All the users have mail boxes on the old database which cannot be contacted. How do I create new mailboxes for "existing" mailbox users?

Explain some more - why can't the old database be mounted? Is it from a different version of Exchange? Are you upgrading or re-installing?

The old database was on a machine that no longer existed - disappeared in a puff of overheated server room mayhem. I resolved the issue by disabling every mailbox and creating a new mailbox once I had eradicated all references to the old server in AD. Mail is now flowing through the new install of Exchange 2010.
