Hi everyone,

We have our staff and student drives assigned via gp and its really stable.

We have recently rebuilt a room of PCs (Win XP SP3) and none of these will map any drives. Can create desktop shortcuts to shares which work fine, and the users H Drives appears (assigned through AD).

Can't for the life of me work out what is wrong with these machines - any obvious things that I might have missed?

Even if I log on as domain admin I still don't get the mappings.

Any advice appreciated as its driving me nuts!

Cheers

So you think that these client tools might allow the correct policies to propagate??

Yes, AFAIK that is the only way to get drive mappings working through GP on XP

You don't realise just how much time you have saved me - it resolved the issue perfectly!! Thanks heaps!

Obviously all of the other XP PCs in the school have had this deployed by WSUS.

Need to work out why these recently built PCs did not receive the updates.

Cheers

having the same issue with Vista SP1 PCs that got reimaged over the summer, though I thought Vista supported Group Policy preferences out of the box.....

Time to get SP2 on them and test again!
