Printers randomly changing ports

A couple of our printers keep randomly picking up another port when the server boots up, so jobs end up printing to random places, or failing.

 

These two printers are both Konica Minolta Multifunction Devices (but the ports they pick aren't, necessarily), and I've changed on to the Universal Driver when I migrated to 2008.

 

One of the printers is managed through PCounter, the other isn't.

 

Does anybody have any ideas what it going on?

I'm presuming the IP address on the devices remains the same? If not ensure it's hard coded and not DHCP.

 

Which version of Pcounter are you using?

Thanks for the reply - I've actually tracked it down to the Konica Minolta Universal Driver being a heap of interfering junk that takes over and tries to do things its own way, confusing me about which printer I was changing the port on

Universal drivers are either a wonderful time saving install, or very, very annoying!
