How do I delete a .V2 folder???

Hi,

 

One of our users recently encountered an error in logging onto the domain. It says that on the profile path there is a .V2 folder that cannot be copied. I've logged onto our server, found it in the profile folder and tried to delete it...no go.

 

Logged on as administrator it says 'access denied' and also I cannot alter any security settings on it or anything.

 

What the heck is it???

You don't want to delete this I shouldn't think.

 

Vista and upwards use profiles differently so XP and older can't load Vista and upwards profiles and vice versa.

Therefore the newer roaming profiles have .v2 on the end to separate the types of profiles. Therefore its expected to see two types of profiles per user.

Basically you need to take ownership of the profile which will work but also break the profile as the owner must be the person logging on.

There is a GP setting that basically automatically adds domain admin permissions to each profile when its fresh created.
