SPAM Filtering

We've recently switched ISP and we now no longer have a layer of mail filtering from our ISP. My mail server has a version of SPAM assassin build in but I'm noticing an increase in the ammount of SPAM actually getting through so I am currently looking at something else to add another level of filtering.

 

I'm only in the tentative investigation stage, and I also need to see if I can configure my the SPAM filter on the mail server to perform a bit better but I was wondering what others were using or could reccomend. Paid or free it doens't matter, I'm just interested.

untangle in tranparent mode - works great.

Spam Assassin (invoked via Mail Scanner) is pretty good depending upon if you're using pyzor, dcc etc.

I believe you're a smoothie user - ask your sales person to turn on spam filtering for 30 days?

Done that Just need to wait until the start of term has died down when I can actually get it set up. Whislt it's certainly the easiest solution it's not the only one and I'd be remiss if I didn't do some investigation.

Heh. Glad you've done that.

Presuming you are on exchange, your other "most obvious" candidates are those that live on-server... another appliance for mail filtering would seem excessive.
