Hi,

 

My first question, so please bare with my noob ignorance.

 

My head of 6th form has asked for a weekly register to record 'concerns' with students, e.g. problems with behaviour, attendance, punctuality etc. He has also asked if there could be a 'hidden' column to record the reason for the concern. I'm not sure why it has to be hidden!

 

So I'm thinking for the main table(marksheet)

 

Student 02/09 03/09 04/09 etc.

Can anybody suggest a method in SIMS to achieve this?

Would the behaviour module not be more suitable? You can set up behaviour incidents that don't carry points if you don't want them to. As for a hidden column, if you hide it then nobody can see it until you un-hide it, at which point anybody with access to the marksheet will be able to see it, so I'm not sure what you'll achieve by doing that really...

The behaviour module itself can't, but you could write a report that will do

You've also got the home page which can be configured to show the group that you are interested in - live updates too so that instant action can be taken. Amazingly effective when the head can pass a student in the corridor and comment on what has just happened. Remember to record more positives than negatives though.
