Proxy Filtering HTTP

Hi All,

 

I have a neighbor using my wireless internet connection, this is because he works away alot and cant really afford a landline so I said he could use my wireless connection for the Internet.

 

I noticed today when I went in to setup something on his PC that a few naughty sites have appeared.

 

Rather than say get off my Internet due to looking at porn I'd rather put a proxy server into VMWare and run it on my network but How do I get his machine to go through it without having to go next door and set it all up ?

 

Would it be possible for me to set some static routes on the proxy using the IP I gave him so that his traffic goes through the proxy ? is there a simpler solution ?

You need a transparent proxy.

ok I've never set up a transparent proxy.

 

I see this can be achieved in Linux with Squid and DansGuardian Ill check it out later on

You could install Smoothwall Express with this - URL filter add-on for IPCop and SmoothWall

 

Smoothwall express is a transparent proxy right out of the box.
