eddyc Posted August 17, 2010 Report Posted August 17, 2010 Has anybody had any issues with Office 2010 KMS? Does anyone know any commands you can run to test its status? We've been rolling out our image of Windows 7, office 2010, etc. Around 50 machines have activated office fine, whilst the rest keep popping up asking for a code. Thanks in advance, Ed.
Hulbert99 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 Download and run the KeyManagementServiceHost.exe file on this page on a supported operating system. Download details: Office 2010 KMS Host License Pack Enter your Office 2010 KMS host key when prompted. Click OK to continue with activation. Open port 1688 and allow the KMS host service through the firewall. Next download and install the VAMT 2.0 (Volume Activation Management Tool) from this page. Download details: VAMT 2.0 You can then search for all PCs within your AD, via name/ip address, within a workgroup or with an LDAP query. Right click on a selected PC (can also select more than one) and click Update Status -> Via current credential or alternate credential depending on who you are logged on as. This will scan the client PC for any Microsoft product and the license status of that product and group them accordingly. On the left hand side is a tab called "Product keys." From here you install the KMS key that you would like to send out to the client PCs. Enter your key and click verify. Now go to the selected tabs (OOB Grace, Unlicensed etc) and select one or all PCs that you want to license. Right click on the selected PC('s) and click Activate, KMS Activate. Select Auto-select from DNS and click OK. If all done correctly all products should be activated with your KMS key. 2
eddyc Posted August 18, 2010 Author Report Posted August 18, 2010 Hi Hulbert, Thanks for your reply, thats what I have done to get the original few licensed but I've noticed our agreement expired on 31-Jul-10 which I guess is why the key has now stopped activating the clients which have been put in recently. I've put our new key for our new agreement into the KMS server and am not having any joy - if I manually attempt activation I get told that there have not been enough requests - I know that you initally need 5 to get the KMS to work. I've manually run it over 30 machines and they all same the same thing From there server itself I get; cscript C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs /dlv bfe7a195-4f8f-4f0b-a622-cf13c7d16864 /? I feel I've been chasing my tail for a few days now. If not I'm going to have to start putting the MAK key in everywhere which isn't ideal! Thanks
ranj Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 I have setup the office 2010 KMS Host license pack on one of our servers which is R2 as our original KMS host which activates our servers and windows 7 machines is windows 2008 which the office one doesnt support. So I have set this up and entered our agreement KMS key for Office but I have already installed Office on one of the test machines. How do i activate it with this host. I know for Windows 7 you can use the command slmgr /ato.... but does anyone know what the command is for office?
