Hi, I have used the Edumove tool to move user areas from one server to another. I am having trouble redirecting the userareas of 200 users. It has put in \\newserver\users\intake2006\ in all 200 home directories instead of \\newserver\users\intake2006\user1

\\newserver\users\intake2006\user2

\\newserver\users\intake2006\user3

Is there a way of batch updating the home area to match there username or do i have to put it in manually times 200

Select all objects in the ou you wish to change, right click and select properties. Go the the home drive field and then put in the path \\newserver\users\intake06\%username%

Hope that helps,

James.

Thanks James

That has worked. Final problem is the user does not have permission to edit their own files. It looks like it has not copied the permissions across. Any ideas

In which case what I would recommend doing is download ntfs fix from the wise soft website.

The URL for that is http://www.wisesoft.co.uk/software/ntfsfix/default.aspx

Just install and follow the instructions, generally the default ones are appropriate but you may have custom permissions for staff you may want to do.

And the option you want to use is replace appose to add. And make sure inheritance is turned on the sub folders.

James.
