Hello,

I am wanting to setup a captive protal if the proxy is not set, The captive portal only has to say "setup your proxy please", No login or paying screen. I would not want to setup another computer to do this. Is there an easy way to do this?

I have internal Windows 2003 server to reside this page on.

Thank you, C3sium

That is even better, Do you know if this works with iphone, ipads, ipods?

Do you know of any good resources for this procedure?

It took me a week to figure out why Wpad wasn't working, due to hep files leaving out a regedit modification

Thank you, C3sium

If you use proxy.pac/wpad.dat with Group Policy, DHCP *and* DNS you'll cover a lot (but not all) of the cases.

Your "portal" idea is a good fallback. You'll need an intercepting proxy on your network gateway though. Once you have an intercepting proxy lined up - let us know which one, and we can help work out how to do what you want - there's more than one way to skin that particular cat.

Wpad you dont need to push out with GPO it is picked up as soon as they connect to the network. Ipads are unable to pick up on my .pac or .dat file. There is a firebox x550e installed, I have contacted them to see what I can do with that. They said I can block all traffic with that except for my proxy server, or the proxy that servers will be on. But he won't tell me how to do it, as the registered installer we had install it, had 2 or more days training on how to install it. He doesn't know that at the end of the year I have to decide if we keep the firebox or not.

By the way I like the way you speak about Cats! :)

Thank you, C3sium
