Can anyone recommend a good piece of software - preferably free? I have managed to rescue my RAID drives, after the weekend's overheating issue, but the drive is showing as unallocated. I feel certain that the data will still be there, least ways I hope it is. I would really, really appreciate some help here as I don't relish the thought of having to re-create the virtual machines that should be on the disc.

Just had a quick look at Test Disk, but it doesn't mention Windows RAID only Linux. Will it work in W2k8R2 do you know? Edited by leco

If you don't get anywhere with Test Disk, I'd recommend Active Undelete

Active@ UNDELETE Software to recover deleted files folders & partitions. Windows XP VISTA 2003 2008.

This may help: "Recovers files from deleted, damaged, formatted or reformatted partitions"

It's paid-for, about US$80, but really rather good.

Found that one, it's currently scanning the drives for partitions - I'm using the free demo vesion. I'm not really in a position to buy anything though - (no Bursar/purse string holders in, just plumbers & joiners!)
