Just had a friend call, she's trying to set up a donation on the unicef site but the ssl certificate's displaying a warning - not the normal click here anyway one, I can get it ok and can't make my computer display the warning.

 

It's the donate part of the unicef.org.uk site - ta

Works fine for me, it's a Verisign certificate so should work fine. I would be very suspicious if she's getting a certificate error, could be some trojan on her PC redirecting to a fake website.

I can't work it out, 4 computers here connect ok, both her laptop and iphone get the same error, I've suggested she turn off her router and tries again with her iphone to discount a router problem. She can access other ssl sites without a problem.

The only thing I can think of is she's missing the intermediate certs for extended validation. Firefox had this problem for a very short time at one point.

 

Really old, manky outdated browser / unpatched OS?

Fully patched and xp sp3 IE7, date and time set correctly, it's a friend from school so laptop is one of mine (so to speak) I've got another school laptop here and it works OK, so not one of my GPO settings. She's going to bring it round when we have coffee next, will try it on my broadband.
