We have a problem where a user when accessing Microsoft Office Word 2003, the MS Word where a user cannot maximise or ‘drag’ the window to a different size (wider or larger). When opening MS Word, it opens half way down the screen and when maximising, does not maximising and the edges cannot be dragged winder or taller.

To date we have –

• Changed the resolution – This did resolve the problem; however the issue returned within two days and changing the resolution again failed to resolve the problem.

• Re-create the normal.dot template

• Reinstall office 2003

• Recreated the users local and network profile

Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it?!

We had this issue some while ago and tried everything you did. In the end, we found that it appears to be a bug with Word 2003 and Outlook. When word is selected as the default email editor in Outlook, it can sometimes cause this problem.

We fixed it by going into Outlook, choosing Tools | Options | Mail Format and then unticking "Use Micrsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages"

Also have a look at this

We've not seen the problem again since.

Cheers PeterH!

That is very interesting, the same user having the problem also asked me (after having recreating there profile) to set her Outlook to underline spelling mistakes in red, I.E. selecting Word to be the default email editor. However, they were having this problem immediately after the new profile being created, yet before Outlook had even been opened again.

I will double check this when in the office tommorrow as from that link and what you have said, this is exactly the same issue. This is week 3 now!

Thanks again.
